Ryland Parks is a phenomenal football player with a bright future ahead of him. As the Crescent Falls Sharks’ starting Left Tackle, Ryland has the city behind him and endless access to the privileges his status and career afford him as a pro athlete.

While facing a potential consequence for his outlandish antics, Ryland learns that he has a sister, deaf, six-year-old who’s been abandoned by their biological mother. He’s instantly compelled to not only change his life’s course to save his career, but gain custody of his baby sister.

However, just like on the field, he encounters an obstacle hellbent on keeping him from achieving that goal.

Somee Cole has always been an advocate for her students. Born deaf, she understands what it’s like to exist in silence but also believes her world isn’t defined by her inability to hear. When one of her favorite students, Rylee Parks, goes absent for too long, Somee could have never imagined what would become their fate. She immediately intervenes, ensuring that the child has a safe, secure, and nurturing environment.

Somee’s kindness lands her on the radar of the broody and determined NFL player who refuses to allow his sister to be pawned off on her teacher. Somee and Ryland have a common goal—Rylee’s success and happiness—but wanting what’s best for her places them on opposing sides while forcing them together. With an attraction that can’t be denied, life quickly gets interesting for Ryland and Somee.

In order to ensure Rylee’s easeful transition into her brother’s world, an offer is made. Somee will come to Crescent Falls to help Rylee settle into her new life. Along the way, two people with a common goal of ensuring the best life for one little girl persistently fight chemistry and a connection that cannot be defined. What Somee doesn’t know is that Ryland is determined to make their temporary solution a permanent resolution.

Guarded and cautious, Somee is determined not to fall, but Ryland is even more determined to show her that his protective instincts extend far beyond the field.
