Not only had she been waiting months, but she’d also saved up enough to ‘alter’ her posting to Abuja.

Everything was playing out according to plan until her first day of camp in Kubwa when she ran into Nnamdi Nnaji. The boy known for his trail of heartbreak from SS1 of secondary school to two-hundred level at UNN. He was trouble. The boy mother’s warn their young daughters against.

Determined to make the best of her service year, Dera closes her mind to Nnamdi’s advances for a second chance. But when they find themselves in the same Platoon, paired in more than one group activity she quickly learns that avoiding her problems might be harder than she initially thought.

What started as the beginning of her future might lead her to face shadows of the past that have refused to stay buried and perhaps that’s not that bad.","format",{"_28":97,"_27":98,"_99":100,"_101":102},"publisher","page_count",356,"duration","published_date","December 15, 2026","pub_date","December 15","isbn","asin","B0H6N3V24F","hex_code","#2f3212","language","English","purchase_links",[],"playlist_links",[],"cover","https://cdn.blackauthored.com/books/10908i/410b3b0e-39ae-43bc-8f5e-eaab829b946c/1789836608.jpg","thumb","https://img.blackauthored.com/?preset=poster_thumb&image=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.blackauthored.com%2Fbooks%2F10908i%2F410b3b0e-39ae-43bc-8f5e-eaab829b946c%2F1789836608.jpg",3,"Kindle","type","digital","audio",false,"order",{"_28":41,"_27":42,"_43":44,"_105":-5,"_106":-5,"_31":32,"_107":108,"_45":46},"biography","image","roles",[109],"author","isLoggedIn",["P",111],"result",{"_15":120,"_17":121,"_13":122,"_123":124,"_19":125,"_126":127,"_21":128},"user","themePreference","light","storedTheme","gaId","G-Z1HVZ17GZ3","Blackauthored","%s","Find your next Black authored read and connect with readers with the similar taste.","handle","@blackauthored","https://blackauthored.com","robots",{"_139":102,"_140":102},{"_23":24,"_25":129,"_27":120,"_130":131,"_132":133,"_19":125},"Organization","logo","https://cdn.blackauthored.com/images/og-image.png","sameAs",[134,135,136,137,138],"https://twitter.com/blackauthored","https://facebook.com/blackauthored","https://instagram.com/blackauthored","https://youtube.com/blackauthored","https://tiktok.com/@blackauthored","noIndex","noFollow"]
