He thought getting outta The Bottom would be easy…

After fighting and grinding to get outta the bottom, Kadeem Barnes, aka KB, built an empire most men only dream about.

Money? Power? Respect? He has it all.
But every king must eventually defend his crown.

When a ruthless queenpin named Ziyah declares war on everything he's built, KB finds himself fighting a war between east and west cartels. Old enemies start resurfacing, while his trusted allies are being targeted, and bodies begin dropping everywhere.

As the streets erupt into chaos, KB is forced to lean on the people closest to him. Yotta, the fearless Gutta Girl who has always had his back. Lana, the new woman who has captured his heart when he least expected it. And a loyal crew willing to die behind his name.

But loyalty is fragile when secrets come to light…and one revelation could destroy everything KB’s earned.

With enemies closing in from every direction and the future of his empire hanging in the balance, KB must decide what matters most: the crown he sacrificed everything to obtain...or the people he still has left to lose.

In the final installment of The Bottom series, KOLD delivers a finale full of chaos, loyalty, betrayal, love and survival.
Nobody’s safe…and every decision comes with a body count.

What's good My Peoples?! I'm KOLD, an author of Street Lit, Urban Romance, Urban Paranormal, and Erotica. I'm from Clarksville, TN and I have been writing since 2015.

My author journey began while I was incarcerated in Kentucky. We didn't have any books by Black authors available to us at the facility I was in, and after speaking with inmates on the yard, we felt Street Lit books weren't reflecting our real experiences. I told them I could do better, and they challenged me to do it. So, that same day, I went in my cell and began writing, The Bottom. During my final eight years of incarceration, I wrote 33 books before I was granted parole in 2022. I became known as the 'walking library' at multiple prisons due to me always carrying around a large net bag full of my books.

To this day, I still handwrite every book, and I continue to base my stories off experiences either I myself have experienced, or the experiences of others I was around.

Writing is what saved me from getting out of prison and continuing down the same path in the streets that I was used to. I use my pen to articulate my thoughts, writing every story like a movie because that's how they play in my head.

While I am an author...I began a reader.

My favorite authors are a lot but they are: Donald Goines, Kwan, Wahida Clark, Nikki Turner, Kiki Swinson, Ashley & JaQuavis, Treasure Hernandez, Jahquel J, Kutura B, Theresa Reese, Ada Afam, M. Monique, C. Wilson, Bonnie Blanco, and T'Lyn. Non-Black authors I've read and enjoyed are James Patterson, Lee Child, Victor Fleming, and Janet Evanoich.

I am also an award-winning playwright after winning a PEN Award in 2022 for my play \"Can't Win PEN\".

I'm a writer hoping to write a book in every genre someday.

All I need is one chapter, allow your eyes to read one chapter from any book, and you'll be hooked. I appreciate you all in advance.

The part about the streets that’s looked over the most…are the lives they claim.

KB thought he survived the worst the game had to offer…but one’s rise has a way of multiplying enemies.

When a brutal cartel war erupts between Toya, the woman who helped build his empire, and Ms. Diaz, the most feared drug lord in the country, KB is forced to choose between loyalty, love, and revenge after the loss of his unborn child.

Back in Clarksville, the city’s eating itself alive. Peanut’s return from prison ignites a ruthless turf war with Tion, turning old alliances into targets and dragging innocent lives into the crossfire.

As jealousy, betrayal, and ambition collide, the streets become a chessboard…but every move costs a body.

Love isn’t safe.
Loyalty is deadly.
And KB learns that once you reach the top…
There’s only one way to stay there.

By embracing the monster the streets created.

What does it really mean to start from The Bottom?

For Kadeem Barnes, aka KB… it’s not just a place…it’s a mindset. And in Clarksvegas, Tennessee, only the hungry climb out.
KB is a young man about to graduate high school with grown-man ambitions. Most of the city knows him as an all-star basketball player with unlimited options for college, and even the potential to go pro. But in the streets? He’s quietly pushing product, stacking his bread, and plotting his way outta the bottom. His circle is smaller than a cheerio, with his friends, Tion and Lamar, beside him. Together, they’re grinding for more than survival.

But climbing outta the bottom is easier said than done.

Every king has a rival in different forms ready to take him out. You just don’t know what form they’ll appear.
And soon, temptation becomes one of KB’s biggest obstacles.

Cindy, the quiet ‘Cinderella’ nobody notices, looks to be his peace, offering to give her all to him.
Ciana, the eye of everyone in school, is determined to use her beauty and body to lock KB down.
Toya, a woman seeking to make her own come up in the game, has plans for KB that could put him on, and she’ll be damned if anyone gets in the way of what, or who, she wants.
And when a powerful drug lord, Rivera Diaz, sets her eyes on KB…the gloves are off.

As love, lust, and ambition collide, KB lands in the center of a dangerous game. Loyalty is tested and one wrong move can cost him everything he’s quietly worked to build.
From car washes to club nights, from high school gyms to cartel connects, the city’s watching.

Everyone has their eye on the top, but in order to get there…you have to make it outta THE BOTTOM…
